DefenderLine Terms of Service

DefenderLine is an AI-powered cybersecurity and digital safety assistant provided by the Digital Defense Alliance ("DDA," "we," "our," or "us"). DefenderLine is designed to help users understand cybersecurity issues, scams, fraud, identity protection, privacy, online safety, and incident triage steps.

1. Not for Emergencies

DefenderLine is not an emergency service.

If you or someone else may be in immediate danger, contact emergency services right away. In the United States, call 911 for emergencies. If you are experiencing emotional distress, suicidal thoughts, threats, exploitation, stalking, coercion, or immediate safety concerns, seek help from emergency services, law enforcement, a trusted person, or an appropriate crisis support service.

DefenderLine may provide general safety and reporting guidance, but it does not replace emergency services, law enforcement, crisis support, legal counsel, financial professionals, or hands-on technical incident response.

2. What DefenderLine Can Help With

DefenderLine provides educational, informational, and self-service cybersecurity guidance.

DefenderLine may help with:

  • Cybersecurity questions
  • Phishing, smishing, vishing, and suspicious messages
  • Account compromise
  • Malware, ransomware, and device security
  • Scams, fraud, and financial loss prevention
  • Identity theft and personal data misuse
  • Online harassment, cyberstalking, sextortion, and image-based abuse
  • Child online safety guidance
  • Privacy and data removal guidance
  • Digital Defense Alliance programs, services, and resources

DefenderLine does not guarantee that an incident will be resolved or that losses, accounts, files, or data can be recovered.

3. No Professional Advice

DefenderLine does not provide professional advice.

DefenderLine does not provide legal, financial, medical, mental health, law enforcement, insurance, regulatory, or professional technical advice.

Information provided by DefenderLine is for general educational and self-service purposes only. You are responsible for deciding whether to contact law enforcement, an attorney, a financial institution, an insurer, a platform provider, a school, an employer, a cybersecurity professional, or another qualified person.

4. Accuracy and AI Limitations

AI systems can make mistakes.

DefenderLine uses artificial intelligence and knowledge-base materials to generate responses. While DDA works to provide useful and accurate information, AI systems can make mistakes, omit important context, misunderstand facts, or provide outdated or incomplete information.

You should independently verify important guidance, especially when dealing with money, identity theft, legal obligations, child safety, threats, active compromise, ransomware, or sensitive data exposure.

5. User Safety and Sensitive Information

Do not submit sensitive secrets or highly sensitive personal information.

Do not share:

  • Passwords
  • Multi-factor authentication codes or one-time passcodes
  • Full Social Security numbers
  • Full payment card numbers
  • Full bank account numbers
  • Private keys, seed phrases, wallet recovery phrases, or API secrets
  • Copies of identity documents
  • Unnecessary personal information about yourself or others

DefenderLine may ask basic triage questions, but you should only provide the minimum information needed to understand the situation.

6. Evidence Preservation

You are responsible for deciding what is safe to save.

DefenderLine may suggest saving basic evidence, such as screenshots, dates, usernames, links, messages, transaction details, or case numbers. You are responsible for deciding what to save and whether saving evidence is safe in your situation.

If saving evidence could put you or someone else at risk, prioritize personal safety first.

7. Reporting to Authorities and Platforms

Reporting guidance is informational only.

DefenderLine may suggest reporting certain incidents to official organizations, such as IC3, FTC, CISA, NCMEC, law enforcement, banks, payment providers, schools, employers, or platform providers.

DDA does not control external agencies, platforms, providers, or their response times or outcomes.

8. Age Requirements

DefenderLine is intended for users who are at least 13 years old.

Users under 18 should use DefenderLine with involvement from a parent, guardian, trusted adult, school official, or appropriate support person, especially for issues involving threats, exploitation, sextortion, grooming, harassment, private images, or immediate safety concerns.

If a child may be in immediate danger, contact emergency services or law enforcement right away.

9. Acceptable Use

You agree not to misuse DefenderLine.

You agree not to use DefenderLine to:

  • Break the law
  • Harm, threaten, harass, exploit, or impersonate others
  • Create, deploy, or improve malware
  • Steal credentials or bypass authentication
  • Build phishing pages, scams, or social engineering campaigns

DDA may restrict, suspend, or terminate access to DefenderLine for misuse or suspected misuse.

10. No Guarantee of Availability

DefenderLine availability is not guaranteed.

DefenderLine may be unavailable, delayed, interrupted, changed, or discontinued at any time. DDA does not guarantee continuous availability or error-free operation.

11. Third-Party Resources

DDA is not responsible for third-party resources.

DefenderLine may refer users to third-party websites, agencies, platforms, or services. These third parties are not controlled by DDA. DDA is not responsible for third-party content, privacy practices, availability, fees, or outcomes.

Always use official websites and trusted contact methods. Be cautious of sponsored search results, recovery scams, paid "asset recovery" services, impersonators, and unsolicited offers of help.

12. Intellectual Property

DDA owns DefenderLine-related materials unless otherwise stated.

DefenderLine, DDA content, workflows, prompts, knowledge-base materials, branding, and related materials are owned by DDA or its licensors unless otherwise stated.

You may use DefenderLine responses for your own personal safety, education, and incident response. You may not copy, redistribute, sell, scrape, or commercially reuse substantial portions of DefenderLine or DDA content without written permission.

13. Disclaimer of Warranties

DefenderLine is provided "as is" and "as available."

To the fullest extent permitted by law, DDA disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, reliability, fitness for a particular purpose, availability, and non-infringement.

14. Limitation of Liability

DDA limits liability to the fullest extent permitted by law.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, DDA is not liable for losses, damages, claims, costs, or expenses arising from your use of or reliance on DefenderLine, including financial loss, data loss, identity theft, account loss, device damage, business interruption, emotional distress, reporting outcomes, or third-party actions.
